When a visitor accesses a directory instead of a page on your website, the browser typically shows the directory&#8217;s index page. If there is no index page available, the browser will display a list of files in that directory.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This demo assumes you&#8217;ve already logged in to <a href=\"https:\/\/cpanel.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cPanel,<\/a> and are starting on the home screen.<\/p>\n<p>Now let&#8217;s learn how to use the Index Manager.<\/p>\n<h2>Index Manager in cPanel<\/h2>\n<p><b>To modify a directory&#8217;s\u00a0index\u00a0settings, follow these steps:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Click the\u00a0<strong>Indexes<\/strong>\u00a0icon.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1092 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.coimbatorewebhosting.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/index.png\" alt=\"Index manager\" width=\"1360\" height=\"650\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Index Manager enables you to control how directories on your website are displayed.<\/p>\n<p>If there is no index.html file in a given directory, the contents of that directory will be listed in a browser. The index settings have been updated, and visitors can no longer view the contents of the clients directory.<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s just as easy to switch back to the default setting.<br \/>\nThe\u00a0<strong>Default System Setting<\/strong>\u00a0allows the directory contents to be shown.<br \/>\n<strong>No Indexing<\/strong>\u00a0does not allow directory contents to be shown.<br \/>\n<strong>Standard Indexing<\/strong>\u00a0prevents browsers from viewing contents of directories that do not contain image files.<br \/>\nAnd\u00a0<strong>Fancy Indexing<\/strong>\u00a0prevents browsers from viewing contents of directories that do contain image files.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1095\" src=\"https:\/\/www.coimbatorewebhosting.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/index3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1354\" height=\"398\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1096\" src=\"https:\/\/www.coimbatorewebhosting.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/index4.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1353\" height=\"447\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This is the end of the tutorial.
